CEP Local 44,

We had a conference call with Bell Canada management today about the issues with the S307 GAM units.

We are waiting to here back on several issue around maintenance of the O2 sensor, senor failing without alarming and expiration dates of each unit. If you currently have a S307 GAM, I would suggest you not use it until all of are concerns have been alleviated. Could you please inform you manager and our Local H&S Officer, Rick McLean about the unit? Please send Rick the serial number on the unit to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so he can keep track of the units in our Local. Please perform bump test before every use of any of the units.  I can not stress enough the importance of these meters working correctly.

CEP Local 44,

I want to make it clear that no member of Local 44 should be using an expired GAM - S307. You can still use S308 and S309 models. If you have a S307 GAM please send it back and request a S308 or S309 sent for replacement. If you can not get a replacement please use another members GAM (S308 of S309) or refuse to go in a confined space. I do not want to inform your family that the expired GAM that Bell Canada has provided you has gone defective while you lay dead in the bottom of a confined space. No one can to enter a confined space without first completing confined space training and using their own GAM. Please make sure you test your GAM every time before entering a confined space.

In Solidarity,
Tyson Siddall
